
The Secretariat of Integral Risk Management and Civil Protection of Guerrero reported an fire that occurred in a vacant lot near the Acapulco International Airport. According to local media, the flames spread to the runways within an hour.
The firefighting efforts involved the Eighth Naval Region of the Secretary of Navy, the National Guard, municipal authorities, and the Secretariat of Integral Risk Management and Civil Protection. A total of 62 naval personnel, a MI-17 helicopter, and seven specialized vehicles were deployed, including an ambulance, a flatbed truck, a water tanker, and a fire truck.
In this regard, Civil Protection detailed that the MI-17 helicopter made seven drops of 2,000 liters of water each, totaling 14,000 liters used to extinguish the flames. Thanks to the timely intervention, the fire was controlled and completely extinguished over an area of approximately 30 hectares.
According to the official information provided, the quick and efficient response of the emergency teams and vehicles was essential to successfully contain and eliminate the fire in this area of importance near the city’s airport.
