
The National Water Commission (Conagua) has reported the formation of tropical storm Kristy off the coast of Acapulco, Guerrero. Heavy rains are expected in the port and a rise in wave heights from one to two meters. Kristy is currently about 440 kilometers south-southwest of Acapulco and 490 kilometers south of Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán. Its maximum sustained winds are 65 km/h, with gusts of 85 km/h, moving west at 28 km/h.
Very heavy and localized rains of 50 to 75 millimeters are expected in Colima, Guerrero, Jalisco, and Michoacán, with intervals of showers of 5 to 25 millimeters in Nayarit. Additionally, wind gusts of 40 to 60 km/h and elevated waves of one to two meters are expected on the coasts of Colima, Guerrero, Jalisco, and Michoacán. Showers could also occur in the center of the country, including the Mexico Valley.
Following the passage of Hurricane John in Acapulco, Conagua reported that its Infrastructure Protection and Emergency Attention Brigades (PIAE) have implemented aid operations. More than 18 million 407 thousand liters of drinking water for human consumption have been delivered, and nearly 498 thousand 300 cubic meters of flooded water have been pumped out, benefiting more than 16 thousand people. In the municipality of Tixtla, an operation has begun where more than 408 thousand 300 cubic meters of flooded water have been pumped.
