In Acapulco, Guerrero, a joint operation of federal and local security forces took place resulting in the detention of three men and the seizure of a considerable amount of firearms and drugs. This action is part of efforts to combat violence in the region and involved the participation of different agencies, including the Secretariat of National Defense, the Secretariat of the Navy, the Attorney General's Office, the National Guard, the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, and the State Attorney General's Office.
According to the authorities, the operation originated from an investigation related to forced disappearances in the area, which led to the securing of the property where the firearms and drugs were found. The detainees are suspected of being linked to a local criminal cell, representing a significant blow to crime in the area.
At the raided residence, agents found five long guns, two smoke grenades, cartridges, magazines, tactical gear, and 280 doses of drugs including cocaine and marijuana. The detainees were informed of their constitutional rights and handed over to the Public Ministry to determine their legal situation.
The success of the operation was a result of cooperation between different security entities and is part of the National Security Strategy. The joint work of federal and local institutions reaffirms the commitment to guarantee peace and security in the state of Guerrero.
The police intervention took place in the Rubén Figueroa Alcocer neighborhood of Acapulco, on Las Rosas street, after receiving key information about a property used as a safe house by the criminal cell. After establishing fixed and mobile surveillance and gathering sufficient evidence, a Control Judge issued the search warrant that culminated in the detention of the three individuals, two aged 20 and one aged 34.
