Unleashed Violence in Acapulco: Multiple Armed Attacks

This Friday in Acapulco, a violent day was experienced, with reports of several criminal events in different areas of the port. From the very early morning, armed attacks, vehicle fires, and discoveries of lifeless bodies were recorded, both in the city center and in the suburban area of the municipality.

The first incident took place on Nicolás Bravo street, in a spot known as El Vaquero Norteño, in the city center. At the same time, an armed attack was reported against a chicken-selling establishment in the market of the La Laja neighborhood. At night, the lifeless body of a woman was found on 2nd street in the Bella Vista neighborhood.

In a separate case, the body of a decapitated man was reported floating in the sea, in front of the cliffs of Sinfonía del Mar. Additionally, armed individuals intercepted a bus on the San Isidro - Centro route, forced the passengers to disembark, and then set the vehicle on fire.

Elsewhere in the city, an armed attack occurred against a taxi stand in the Casas Palenque housing unit, leaving two people deceased: a public transport driver and a street vendor. It was also reported that one person was seriously injured with a knife in Plaza La Cima and was taken to a hospital under police protection.

During the night, Marco Antonio Suástegui Muñoz, leader of the Council of Ejidos and Communities Opposed to the La Parota Dam, was shot at in the Dorada area of Acapulco. Suástegui received eight shots at a coastal business and was urgently taken to a private hospital, where he remains under police custody.

In response to these events, the Deputy Secretary for Political and Social Development of the state government reported that they are monitoring Suástegui's health status and have contacted his family to offer full support from the government. The State Attorney General's Office has been notified to investigate these events and determine responsibilities.
