
The governor of Aguascalientes, Tere Jiménez, led the presentation of the Supplier Development Program aimed at boosting the local economy by professionalizing businesses to turn them into world-class suppliers. In this regard, she expressed her commitment to support entrepreneurs in their growth to strengthen both the state and Mexico as a whole.
The head of the Secretariat of Economic Development, Science and Technology of the State (Sedecyt), Esaú Garza de Vega, explained that this program will bring significant benefits to companies in Aguascalientes. Support will be provided in training, guidance, linkage, financing, certification, and technological advancement to ensure the necessary quality and meet the requirements of large purchasing companies, especially in the automotive sector.
Regarding the program details, the Undersecretary of Investment and Development of Sedecyt, Jorge Armando Andrade Serafín, mentioned that a census of 300 companies in the entity is planned, with a detailed diagnosis, needs assessment, and mentoring. This will allow local businesses to participate in the production chain of parts in the region, which includes states such as Guanajuato, Querétaro, and San Luis Potosí.
Gabriel Padilla Maya, general director of the National Auto Parts Industry (INA), highlighted that Aguascalientes has achieved a notable position as the fourth state with the highest auto parts production in the Bajío region. Nationally, Mexico ranks as the fourth largest global producer of auto parts and the main supplier to the United States, with exports exceeding 110 billion dollars in 2024.
During the event, the governor signed a collaboration agreement between the State Government and the National Auto Parts Industry to promote the Supplier Development Program nationally, with the support of the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank Group. Various representatives from the business sector were also present, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the local and national economy through this initiative.
