Controversy Surrounds FNSM 2025 Amid Resignations

Five out of six candidates for the Queen of the National Fair of San Marcos 2025 in Aguascalientes resigned from their positions just a week before the election. Marifer, Anita, Faby, Veronica, and Nayeli announced their decision through a joint message on social media, which quickly went viral. The candidates expressed concerns about political influence in the contest and their personal integrity.

In an official statement issued by the Board of the National Fair of San Marcos, it was announced that a new selection method will be adopted. A "Special Committee" will be formed, comprised of former fair queens, who will decide who will be the queen and the two princesses for this edition. This change means that the election will not be held by popular vote, as in previous years with participation from the National Electoral Institute.

Veronica Valdes Tadeo, the favorite candidate who is also an official of the state government, resigned on January 21. Through a message on her social media, Veronica communicated her decision, citing concerns about external political influences and her personal integrity. According to information revealed by a journalist, Veronica held a position at the Sports Institute of Aguascalientes with a specific monthly salary.

The remaining candidates thanked the support and affection received, expressing confidence in the Board of the Fair but concerned for their own integrity. In an unprecedented act, the five simultaneous resignations have generated uncertainty about the future of the election for the Queen of the National Fair of San Marcos 2025.
