The corridos singer Óscar Maydon addressed his followers to inform them that the concert scheduled in Aguascalientes had to be canceled due to a situation of conflicts between venues and businessmen, in which he is not involved. Maydon clarified that the narcomantas found in the city were not related to him or his team, and he denied any link to drug trafficking.
After the discovery of three narcomantas in Aguascalientes, the state prosecutor, Jesús Figueroa Ortega, announced that investigations were underway to clarify the events and that some suspects were in police custody. Despite this situation, Maydon confirmed that his upcoming concert in Mérida, Yucatán, was still on.
The artist mentioned that it is important to deny any false information circulating, clarifying that he and his team are fine. In a message to his followers, he expressed: "Thank God, the narcomanta was not for us," and added that the cancellation of the concert in Aguascalientes was a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of all involved.
Maydon is not the only regional Mexican musician who has been threatened in this context. In January, a narcomanta aimed at Natanael Cano was found in Sonora, also mentioning other artists like Tito Torbellino. In response to these threats, local authorities offered protection to the affected artists.
Despite the circumstances, Óscar Maydon thanked his followers for their support and assured that he will go ahead with his music career, staying away from situations with which he has no relation. His safety and well-being, as well as that of his team, are priorities amid these threats that have affected his artistic agenda.
