The Congress of Aguascalientes approved a measure to prohibit narcocorrido songs at public events, just before the start of the San Marcos Fair, which will take place from April 19 to May 11. The initiative, supported by 20 votes, establishes prison sentences and fines for those who glorify in artistic representations individuals linked to organized crime, drug trafficking, and criminal groups, as well as the use of prohibited weapons.

According to the initiative, those who engage in this behavior will face penalties of 6 months to 1 year in prison, in addition to fines ranging from 6,000 to 8,000 days of the Unit of Measurement and Update (UMA). These sanctions will increase if the message is directed at minors, disseminated in schools or recreational centers, or explicitly promotes criminal groups.

In the same session, the Congress of Aguascalientes also declared bullfighting, cockfighting, and charreada as cultural heritage of the state, with unanimous support from the legislators. This measure aims to preserve traditions such as the National Fair of San Marcos, ensuring that the culture and identity of the state remain alive.

The legislation seeks to protect the cultural integrity and traditions of the state, respecting festivities such as the San Marcos Fair and other practices rooted in the history of Aguascalientes.
