In Badiraguato, Sinaloa, five people were trapped after a mine collapse, according to the National Civil Protection Coordination. The situation occurred in the town of Tameapa. The president, Claudia Sheinbaum, has ordered the deployment of teams to coordinate rescue efforts and provide support at the site. Local authorities have joined forces to address this emergency.

In the statement issued by the National Civil Protection Coordination, the presence of elements from different entities such as State Civil Protection, Municipal Civil Protection, Public Security, and Municipal Traffic at the scene was highlighted. Rubén Rocha Moya, governor of Sinaloa, expressed that he is addressing the contingency and gave precise instructions to Civil Protection to act immediately.

The incident has reignited controversy regarding the conditions of miners in Mexico. It was mentioned that in August 2022, at the El Pinabete coal mine in Coahuila, ten workers lost their lives due to a collapse. In the coal region, in 2006, the tragic incident occurred at the Pasta de Conchos mine where 65 people died in an explosion, and most of the remains have still not been recovered.
