New Infonavit Reform Impacts Workers

A new initiative approved by the supermajority of Morena in Congress will directly impact the workers of the country, and nothing can be done to prevent it. The reforms to the Infonavit Law, which the Senate approved without even changing a single comma, will not only modify decision-making within the institute but also put at risk and in the utmost opacity and discretion the administration of the considerable sum of 2.4 trillion pesos that are in the coffers of that organization.

First of all, under the modifications made to Infonavit, the General Accounting Law will not be applied, and instead, it will be monitored by the Superior Audit Office of the Federation, so the administration of the funds of more than 50 million workers in the country is in opacity. Another element is that the Institute will operate as a construction company and will be able to build directly or, through any subsidiary company, acquire, build, and maintain housing. In its first year, the Institute granted 88,000 loans and the same number of homes, but some were poorly constructed and became uninhabitable in the long run.

Overlooking agreements and international treaties, the tech giant Google changed the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America in a clear gesture to please US President Donald Trump. Most of the time, they impose inexperienced, irresponsible, ignorant, unprepared, improvisational, dishonest, and corrupt individuals in the leadership of national companies.

On the occasion of Valentine's Day, the governor of Guerrero, Evelyn Salgado, led a collective wedding of 300 couples who united in marriage in Chilpancingo. The head of Infonavit, Octavio Romero Oropeza, has denounced a series of arbitrariness, irregularities, and waste of public resources during the previous administration.

In a country with a deficit of around 7 million homes, the goal of building a million houses and apartments of social interest during the six-year term is commendable, but the way it seeks to achieve this has generated controversy. Without mediation, without listening to businessmen and workers, and using their supermajority, Morena in the Union Congress has carried out profound changes in this regard.
