The teachers from the State Coordinator of Education Workers of Guerrero (CETEG) expressed their displeasure at not being received by the deputies this Friday, which led to a protest at the Guerrero Congress facilities. Initially, the protesters gathered at the ISSSTE clinic to express their rejection of the reform to the ISSSTE Law that is currently being analyzed in the federal Congress.
Subsequently, they marched to the Local Congress with the aim of being heard by the legislators. However, after receiving no response, the teachers began throwing eggs at the building as a form of protest. During the demonstration, they reiterated their opposition to the reform of the ISSSTE Law, arguing that it affects workers' rights.
In addition to the "egg attack" on Congress, the protesters blocked the Trébol Sur avenue, near the legislative headquarters, causing traffic congestion in the area. Víctor Bartolo de la Cruz, spokesperson for CETEG, pointed out that they sought to establish a dialogue with a commission of local deputies but were not received.
Bartolo de la Cruz emphasized: "Since yesterday we have not been received, and what we seek is that if the reform reaches the Guerrero Congress, it be stopped." The teachers of CETEG had initiated a 48-hour work stoppage the previous day, and the mobilization at Congress was part of this strike.
After the protest at the legislative building, the teachers headed to the Government Palace to request Governor Evelyn Salgado Pineda not to endorse the mentioned law reform.
