The Attorney General of Guerrero reported on the arrest of Germán 'N', accused of murdering the mayor of Chilpancingo, Alejandro Arcos, which occurred in October. The state attorney's office detailed that the arrest warrant was executed by the Ministerial Investigative Police for the crime of qualified homicide. Alejandro Arcos Catalán was decapitated and his remains were found in Chilpancingo on October 6.

Germán 'N' is the acting head of the Municipal Public Security Secretariat. He was arrested by elements of the corporation with the support of federal forces. Germán 'N' was placed at the disposal of the corresponding judge to determine his legal situation. He was acting as an active-duty military member and held the position of head of the Municipal Public Security Secretariat of Chilpancingo.

Alejandro Arcos Catalán, winner of the election for the mayoralty of Chilpancingo by the PRI-PAN-PRD alliance, was murdered just six days after taking office. His decapitated body was found in a neighborhood of the capital. At the mass for his passing, thousands gathered to bid him farewell amid shouts demanding justice. Arcos Catalán was held in an area influenced by Los Ardillos, a criminal group active in the region.

After the murder, the population placed candles and banners at the municipal palace in his honor. Civil organizations have called for marches to demand justice, the most recent scheduled to commemorate the 40 days since the crime. The demonstrations will take place at Margarita Maza de Juárez Park next Friday.
