The brave rescue dog Rex, recognized for his work during the earthquake of September 19, 2017, in Mexico, passed away at the age of 14. His owner, Salvador Montes de Oca, shared the sad news and expressed poignant words about the life of his inseparable companion.

Rex, born in Colima, dedicated a large part of his life to the rescue and search for people. He participated in rescue operations from the age of 9 months and stood out for finding a woman alive during the mentioned natural disaster. At 10 years old, he took on the role of companion and protector of Montes de Oca's mother and sister.

At the age of eight, the brave animal was diagnosed with degenerative joint disease, which complicated his final years. Despite this, his family provided him with all the necessary care, including therapies, medication, and even CBD, to ensure he had the best quality of life possible.

Rex's last year was particularly difficult, reaching a point where he could no longer stand. Faced with this situation, the family made the painful decision to end his suffering so he could rest in peace. Montes de Oca reflected on the importance of quality of life and allowing a dignified death for living beings.
