Relatives of Federal Education Secretary Murdered in Colima

On Saturday, authorities in Colima confirmed the murder of María Eugenia 'Geña' Delgado and her daughter Sheila Amezcua Delgado. The women were the aunt and niece of Federal Education Secretary Mario Delgado and his brother, Deputy Felipe Delgado. Early in the morning, armed men forcibly entered a house on Río Salado Street in the Placetas Estadio neighborhood. Both women suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died before medical services could arrive. Deputy Felipe Delgado, from the Green Party, confirmed the incident and pointed to the inaction of local authorities, noting that his aunt had constantly reported problems but received no help. As of now, no one involved in the double homicide has been detained. The Colima Prosecutor's Office, in coordination with state and local security forces, is conducting the investigation.
