In Colima, Mexico, a double homicide and a subsequent shootout with law enforcement have occurred. Early Saturday morning, María Eugenia Geña Delgado and her niece Sheila Amezcua Delgado were shot dead in their home. The victims are relatives of Mexico's Secretary of Public Education, Mario Delgado Carrillo. Authorities reported the attack occurred around 04:30 in the Placetas Estadio neighborhood. Suspects linked to the murders were later killed in an armed confrontation in Punta Diamante. The State Attorney General's Office has opened an investigation into the double homicide under the femicide protocol. Firearms and other evidence were seized during the operation. "We are sure the case will be clarified and justice will be done," authorities stated.
