Federal and state security forces carried out a joint operation in Sinaloa, resulting in the seizure of 4,700 liters of liquid methamphetamine and 269 kilograms of solid methamphetamine in three homes. This action has become the largest seizure of this substance during the administration of President Claudia Sheinbaum, which began on October 1, 2024.
Agents from various institutions such as Sedena, Semar, FGR, GN, and SSPC, in collaboration with local authorities, participated in the operation conducted in Culiacán. This city is known for being the birthplace of the Sinaloa Cartel and for the high incidence of violence in the area.
In the town of Ayuba, three properties designated for the production and distribution of synthetic drugs were identified. Security forces simultaneously entered the designated locations, where they found liquid and solid methamphetamine.
After the discovery, the properties were sealed, and the illicit substances were placed in the custody of the Public Ministry for safekeeping and analysis. According to SSPC, this seizure prevented the distribution of 4.9 tons of methamphetamine, equivalent to millions of doses and a significant economic impact on criminal organizations.
In a statement, it was highlighted that this seizure represents the largest during the current administration, strengthening the determination of institutions to work together for peace in Sinaloa.
The operation is part of the National Security Strategy to combat drug trafficking and organized crime, especially in Sinaloa, recognized as one of the main production and export centers for synthetic narcotics.
Since the beginning of the current administration, the seizure of synthetic drugs has intensified, with special attention to clandestine laboratories in the northwest of the country. These actions seek to combat the illegal trafficking of substances as well as strengthen security in the region.
