Concerts in Culiacán Postponed for Security Reasons

The governor of Sinaloa, Rubén Rocha Moya, recently explained the reasons behind the cancellation of the concerts for the Palenque 2024 event that was to be held in Culiacán. Despite initial speculations about possible links to violence in the region, Rocha dismissed organized crime as a reason, pointing instead to the content of the lyrics of some artists who were set to perform.

In a conference with various media outlets, Rocha emphasized the importance of avoiding any type of problem at an event where various factors could generate violence. Despite a threat in a narcomanta directed at the governor, the decisions regarding the cancellation were made considering the safety and interests of everyone involved.

While Rocha acknowledged the decrease in violence in Sinaloa, both the concerts and the Sinaloa Livestock Fair were postponed in anticipation of better conditions. Artists such as Natanael Cano, Grupo Firme, Christian Nodal, among others, had confirmed their participation in the concerts, which will now be rescheduled for the first half of 2025, according to the organizers. Although a precise date for the event has not been established.

The list of artists scheduled to perform at Palenque 2024 in Culiacán was extensive and included a variety of musical genres and comedy acts. From Natanael Cano to Tucanes de Tijuana, the program promised a diverse and exciting show for attendees. Although uncertainty has surrounded the cancellation of the concerts, it is expected that the festivities will take place successfully once security and logistical concerns are resolved.
