Manifestation Against Governor Rocha in Culiacan

In the city of Culiacán, Sinaloa, many drivers were trapped in the neighborhoods of Juntas de Humaya, on Chávez Castro Avenue and the malecón Niños Héroes due to protests. The protesters, mostly identified with opposition political parties and the Autonomous University of Sinaloa, expressed their discontent with Governor Rubén Rocha Moya with shouts of “Out Rocha!”.

Dozens of people blocked the avenues leading to the Congress of the State of Sinaloa and then stormed the main door of the legislative building. During the penultimate ordinary session of the First Constitutional Period of the LXV Legislature of Sinaloa, the protesters placed banners on the walls and doors of Congress, showing their rejection of Rocha Moya, as well as banners calling for justice and peace.

These blockages on Boulevard Pedro Infante generated significant traffic congestion, affecting access to the State Services Unit and making traffic to the city center more difficult. The Traffic and Municipal Police Directorate advised motorists to exercise caution due to the protests taking place.

Deputies from various political parties received the protesters at the Congress of the State, where their demands were heard. Despite the protesters' demand to immediately remove the governor, the legislators explained that there are legal processes to carry out that action. There was a meeting between a commission of protesters and the deputies, in a peaceful atmosphere, where no specific formal requests were established, but it was agreed to continue the dialogue. The deputies acknowledged the existence of violence problems that need to be addressed.
