Intensified Violence Disrupts Life in Culiacan

In Sinaloa, violence between criminal groups has escalated, resulting in the closure of schools and an increase in the number of people affected. In Culiacán, tensions have risen due to confrontations that began last Monday, February 17, and continue to this day.

In one of the incidents, a father was heard comforting his son while they took cover on the floor of their home, hearing nearby gunfire. Another violent event took place in the San Benito area, where a man lost his life and vehicles were damaged by gunfire.

In response to this situation, the Mexican Army has deployed 300 soldiers to reinforce security in the state. Additionally, the Secretariat of Public Education and Culture has provided support to schools affected by the lack of electricity supply, and the State Public Security Secretariat of Sinaloa carried out the detention of two individuals in possession of firearms.

Videos of the recent shootings in southern Culiacán have circulated on social media, where an intense security operation has been established. One of the most widely shared incidents was the shooting in Barrancos, where students from the Autonomous University of Sinaloa fled from the gunfire.

As a result of these events, two individuals with tactical gear died and two civilians were injured, being taken to hospitals. In the area, three vehicles were seized, one armored, along with two long firearms and one short firearm.

Various internet users have shared videos from their homes with the sound of gunfire, showing the seriousness of the situation in Culiacán.
