In 2021, the United States government offered a million-dollar reward for information related to Iván Archivaldo Guzmán. According to the DEA, he is accused of several federal charges in the U.S., such as conspiracy to possess controlled substances with the intent to distribute them. In 2014, he was indicted by a federal grand jury in California for conspiracy to import drugs such as cocaine and money laundering.

Recently, in Mexico, another blow was dealt to the 'Los Chapitos' cartel with the arrest of Kevin Alonso 'EL 200', an alleged operator of Iván Archivaldo Guzmán. According to Omar García Harfuch, Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Kevin Alonso was responsible for the security of the organization's leader and coordinated the purchase of weapons and ammunition for the 'Los Chapitos' faction. He is linked to homicides, extortions, and attacks on authorities, generating violence in Sinaloa.

The capture of Kevin Alonso took place in Culiacán, Sinaloa, thanks to a joint operation by the Mexican Army, the National Guard, and the Mexican Air Force. He was allegedly found in the same house as 'El Güerito', alias José Ángel Canobbio Inzunza, known as the financial brain of Los Chapitos, whose arrest occurred during an operation in the residential neighborhood Las Quintas, to the east of Culiacán, by elements of the National Defense Secretariat.

Iván Archivaldo Guzmán, nicknamed 'El Chapito', is one of the sons of Joaquín Guzmán Loera and Alejandrina Salazar. Born in 1983 in Guadalajara, Guzmán had access to educational and business opportunities. In 2005, he was arrested in Zapopan, Jalisco, accused of being the intellectual author of a double homicide, though he was ultimately only charged with money laundering and released for lack of evidence three years later.
