New Elite Military Corps in Mexico

The Secretary of National Defense, division general Ricardo Trevilla, announced the creation of a new elite military body called 'Joint Special Force', designed to combat organized crime in Mexico. This unit brings together the best elements from various specialized battalions, including the Special Forces Brigade, the Paratrooper Special Forces, and the Immediate Reaction Special Force of the National Guard.

The 'Joint Special Force' has significantly improved its level of training, equipment, and armament, resulting in more effective operations against criminal groups. This body has been fundamental in key arrests, such as those made in Culiacán, as a result of joint and intelligent work from different national and international institutions.

Regarding speculations about possible violations of Mexican airspace by U.S. aircraft conducting espionage activities, the Secretary of Defense dismissed such rumors. He stated that Mexico collaborates with various sources, including agencies like Europol, Interpol, and U.S. authorities, and that requests for international air support must be authorized only by specifying areas and routes, with information transmitted in real-time to Mexican authorities.

Since October 2024, a new security strategy based on intelligence and international cooperation has been implemented, which has intensified actions against criminal groups. General Ricardo Trevilla emphasized that operations are planned and executed exclusively by Mexican forces, with the participation of the National Guard, the Navy, and the National Intelligence Center (CNI).
