The Sinaloa Prosecutor's Office confirmed that the body of Sergio Cázares Zambada, identified as the nephew of drug trafficker Ismael 'El Mayo' Zambada, has been found. The crime adds to the wave of violence affecting the entity amid the war between factions of the Sinaloa Cartel, whose founding leaders are imprisoned in the United States. Prosecutor Claudia Zulema Sánchez Kondo confirmed that Cázares Zambada's body was found in a car in the Costa Rica area. In a meeting with reporters, the official said that the corpse was identified by his relatives and handed over by forensic services. The body was found on Sunday, February 8, in the trunk of a gray pickup truck located near the facilities of the Autonomous University of Sinaloa (UAS). Sergio Cázares Zambada survived an attack when leaving a nightclub in Culiacán in 2017. The weekly Zeta published that the man was the son of Águeda Zambada, 'El Mayo's' sister.
