National Guard Apprehends Armed Gang in Culiacan

The National Guard arrested 13 armed individuals during two separate events on the Culiacan-Mazatlan highway. High-caliber weapons and tactical gear were seized. Additionally, two bodies were found in a vehicle south of Culiacan.


National Guard Apprehends Armed Gang in Culiacan

The National Guard detained 13 armed individuals who robbed a trailer, blocked the Culiacán-Mazatlán highway, and scattered nail strips to hinder traffic. During the operation, high-caliber weapons, usable cartridges, a grenade launcher, and tactical equipment were secured.

In two events that occurred at kilometer 136 of the highway, between the municipalities of Culiacán and Elota, the National Guard intervened thanks to the observation of personnel from the Security to Communication Routes sections. In the first event, six armed civilians were detained, and high-caliber weapons were confiscated. Shortly after, two kilometers further, another seven armed individuals were detained after requesting assistance through visual and audible signals from their vehicle.

The 13 detainees had seven long guns, four handguns, 56 magazines, 971 usable cartridges, one grenade launcher attachment, two tactical vests, and tactical equipment confiscated. The identity of the detainees has not been revealed, but they have been presented to the Federal Public Ministry for the corresponding actions.

In another event this morning, an abandoned vehicle was found south of Culiacán with two bodies of males in its trunk. The bodies showed signs of torture and gunshot wounds. The car was discovered on the international highway Mexico 15, about 15 kilometers south of Culiacán, with the trunk open and the men wrapped in black bags.

The appropriate authorities took immediate actions, securing the scene until the arrival of the Forensic Medical Service to transfer the bodies to their facilities in Culiacán.
