The Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection reaffirmed its commitment to work together with local and federal authorities to combat violence and bring to justice those who generate it. In this context, Edwin Antonio 'N' was detained and it was determined that he is the leader of an alleged criminal cell related to the Mayo Zambada faction of the Pacific Cartel.

As a result of a joint operation between the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, the General Prosecutor's Office of Justice of Baja California, and the National Guard, an arrest warrant for qualified homicide was executed against Edwin Antonio 'N', considered one of the main generators of violence in Sinaloa. During the detention, a property, weaponry, tactical equipment, and vehicles were confiscated, and after being captured by elements of the Secretary of National Defense, Edwin Antonio 'N' was transferred to the Federal Center for Social Readaptation (Cefereso) No.

The Secretary of National Defense confirmed that 19 people died during the operation against the criminal cell led by Edwin Antonio 'N', alias El Max. In a statement, it was mentioned that this group had actively participated in the growing violence in the municipality of Culiacán. It was also reported that during the military intervention, 30 hitmen from the cell and bodyguards of 'El Max' had attacked the Mexican Army personnel.

In another related incident, on October 22, leaflets were dropped from a plane in Culiacán in the name of 'La Mayiza' with messages threatening to overthrow the administration of Rubén Rocha Moya for supposedly supporting 'Los Chapitos'. After the detention of Edwin Antonio 'N', an initial hearing took place in which his detention was legalized and he was charged with several crimes, including possession of a firearm exclusively for army use and crimes against health in a gang modality. In view of this, justified preventive detention was imposed as a precautionary measure against him. In a message signed by 'La Mayiza', people were urged to report any abuse, corruption, businesses, and addresses of the governor, his children, and members of his cabinet through a telephone number.
