The president of the Regional Livestock Union, Hernández Álvarez, was attacked by an armed group while in the Tres Ríos neighborhood in Sinaloa. In light of this incident, the Regional Livestock Union has expressed gratitude for the support of authorities and businessmen, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening the livestock sector in the region despite current challenges.

Since September, Sinaloa has experienced an increase in violence attributed to internal struggles within the Sinaloa Cartel, with Los Chapitos and La Mayiza as key players, leaving a trail of victims. In this context, the 2024 Livestock Expo in Sinaloa, scheduled from November 14 to December 1, has been canceled due to increasing insecurity and conflicts between criminal groups.

"This is not the end of our traditions or our identity, but an act of responsibility and respect towards all involved," emphasized the organization. The decision to cancel the event comes after the display of narco-signs in Culiacán last Sunday, where Governor Rubén Rocha Moya was threatened and the cancellation of the palenque was demanded.

The concerts at the Palenque of the Livestock Expo were also suspended, canceling performances from renowned artists both nationally and internationally, including Natanael Cano, Grupo Firme, Yuridia, Brindis Dieras, Caimanes de Sinaloa, Fuerza Regia, Christian Nodal, among others.

The murder of Faustino Hernández Álvarez, president of the Regional Livestock Union, in September in Culiacán, has intensified concerns about security surrounding the event. The Regional Livestock Union officially announced the suspension of the event, one of the most important for the livestock community in the area, through a statement.

Despite the importance of the fair for the local community in terms of identity and economy, the organization has emphasized that the current conditions make it impossible to guarantee the profitability and safety of the event, prioritizing the economic stability of the livestock sector.
