The Primatial Archdiocese of Mexico, through its editorial Desde la Fe, condemned the recent murder of a man and his two children aged 9 and 12 in Culiacán, Sinaloa. They expressed their alarm at the level of dehumanization that violence has reached in the country, highlighting the vulnerability of children amid insecurity.
Emphasizing the slogan "Not with children!", the Catholic Church called for a collective reflection on the situation. They pointed out the importance of not losing the capacity for astonishment, particularly when the victims are minors, and emphasized that children are a treasure that deserves protection.
The religious institution insisted that children need to grow up in environments that promote hope and happiness, values threatened by the increasing violence in the country. They also called on those who have opted for criminality, urging them to reflect on the suffering they cause, especially in vulnerable sectors like children.
The Archdiocese urged the faithful to report any criminal acts that endanger the life and safety of families and asked for the assistance of the Virgin Mary to care for children and the strength of Jesus to confront evil. At first, we were shocked by the facts, then by the figures.
