In Culiacán, Sinaloa, 16 women have taken a significant step in their recovery process on International Women's Day. These women are beneficiaries of the 7th Breast Reconstruction Day of the program 'Recovering Smiles', promoted by the Government of the State of Sinaloa and the State DIF System, led by Dr. Eneyda Rocha Ruiz. Since its inception, this program has transformed the lives of 83 women who have overcome breast cancer.
The program has the collaboration of the Civil Hospital of Culiacán, which has provided operating rooms and recovery areas, ensuring quality medical attention for the beneficiaries in a safe environment. The solidarity and commitment of the team from the Association of Certified Plastic Surgeons, led by Dr. Rafaela Martínez, are also highlighted, who have donated their time and expertise to make the dream of these women a reality.
Breast reconstruction is more than just surgery; it is a crucial step in the emotional and psychological recovery of women who have overcome breast cancer. Each intervention not only restores the shape and size of the breast but also returns confidence, security, and pride to these women.
The Director General of DIF Sinaloa, Lic. Mercedes Ibarra, attended the surgery day, representing Dr. Eneyda Rocha Ruiz. The beneficiaries come from different regions such as Guasave, Mazatlán, Culiacán, and Guamúchil. Surgeries were performed for both initial interventions and follow-ups.
Dr. Eneyda Rocha Ruiz has reaffirmed the state government's commitment to the health and well-being of women, emphasizing the importance of providing comprehensive and free care to those who have undergone a mastectomy. 'The doors of the DIF Sinaloa System are always open for those who need care,' Dr. Rocha Ruiz emphasized.
