After the detention of Ismael 'El Mayo' Zambada, Rubén Rocha Moya, governor of Sinaloa, has faced changes in his administration. Rocha Moya has stopped presiding over morning conferences and official events, being replaced by Feliciano Castro Meléndez, according to the state's communication social office.
Recently, flyers have been distributed in Culiacán urging citizens to report acts of abuse committed by 'Los Chapitos', a faction of the Sinaloa Cartel. These flyers contain a call to overthrow the government that supposedly supports this criminal organization. They also provide a phone number for people to report acts of corruption and abuse, signed by "La Mayiza" and a logo with a horse and the initials MF, which could refer to Ismael Zambada Sicairos, known as 'Mayito Flaco'.
On the other hand, on September 27, flyers were distributed in Culiacán, Los Mochis, and Mazatlán under the banner "Cártel Los Sapitos". In this context, a declaration of war has emerged from Ismael 'El Mayito Flaco' Zambada against Rocha Moya, according to a radio news report. Authorities have mentioned that this act was not a direct attack, but rather a distraction.
The conflict has escalated with the detention of Edwin Antonio Rubio López, known as 'El Max', head of a criminal cell of the 'Mayo' Zambada faction. This arrest was made following a confrontation with the Army in which several members of an armed command were killed or detained. These actions are part of the ongoing war between 'Los Chapitos' and the faction of Ismael 'El Mayo' Zambada in Sinaloa.
In an additional twist, Ismael 'El Mayo' Zambada sent a letter claiming that Rocha Moya was at the estate where Héctor Cuén was murdered, but the governor has failed to prove his whereabouts at that time, generating uncertainty regarding his involvement in the matter.
