The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, expressed her wishes for a speedy recovery for Pope Francis, who is in critical condition in a hospital in Rome after suffering a respiratory crisis. Sheinbaum highlighted the humanitarian work of the Pope in favor of the poorest and in promoting fraternity among people and nations.
The health status of the Holy Father worsened on Saturday due to the respiratory crisis, which required the administration of oxygen. Additionally, it was reported that he has thrombocytopenia due to anemia, for which he has needed blood transfusions. The latest medical report indicated that Pope Francis remains in critical condition, with a reserved prognosis, and has spent the day sitting, although with greater discomfort than in previous days.
President Sheinbaum, despite Mexico being considered a predominantly Catholic country, revealed that she does not follow any religion and emphasized that, despite not being religious, she is a woman of faith and science.
