
On the night of Monday, February 17, in Ecatepec, a confrontation between drivers triggered a shooting on Avenida Central, near the Zodiaco station. The assailants started shooting indiscriminately, hitting several vehicles. One of the affected was a Mexibús heading to the Zodiaco station in the direction of Venta de Carpio. A stray bullet hit the windshield of the bus, injuring the driver with glass shards.
In the images captured at the scene, passengers can be seen trying to take cover on the ground and under seats to protect themselves from the gunfire. Both the Mexibús and another vehicle had bullet marks on the bodywork. Units of the Mexican Army and the National Guard cordoned off the area and provided assistance to the affected individuals. Traffic was halted on Vocacional 3.
The injured driver was treated inside the Mexibús by paramedics, remaining conscious despite the injuries. So far, state authorities have not provided official information about the incident and the driver's health condition. The identity of those responsible for the shooting, which started due to a discussion between three drivers over a traffic accident in the area, is unknown.
Authorities are investigating the case to clarify the facts and determine the responsibilities surrounding the violent confrontation that put the lives of several people at risk.
