The mayor of Ecatepec, Azucena Cisneros Coss, announced a real estate ban in the municipality due to the saturation of constructions and to protect the Sierra de Guadalupe. She emphasized that Ecatepec was built through illegal developers who took advantage of the population and expressed her commitment to prevent the fragmentation of protected areas. Cisneros Coss assured that consultations and forums will be held to include citizen participation in Urban Development plans.
During the Regional Signing of Coordination Agreements for Government Actions between IMEVIS and eight municipalities in the State of Mexico, and the Swearing-in of the Municipal Committees for the Prevention and Control of Urban Growth, the mayor reaffirmed the imposition of the ban since January 1 in the municipality, which has nearly two million inhabitants.
Regarding this issue, Alejandro Tenorio Esquivel, director of IMEVIS, highlighted the importance of regularizing properties in Ecatepec and throughout the Region, with the support of federal agencies and the interest of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo. The regularization of 170,000 homes in the State of Mexico is planned to provide legal certainty to property owners.
During the event, the swearing-in of the Municipal Committees for the Prevention and Control of Urban Growth was also discussed, and the Tax Incentives Campaign for the Regularization of Land Tenure through collaboration with INSUS, IMEVIS, and RAN for the fiscal year 2025 was approved.
