Members of the group "Los 300", made up of taxi drivers and traders from the municipality of Ecatepec, State of Mexico, held a march on March 12 with the objective of reaching the capital's Zócalo. The caravan, composed of vans, motorcycles, and cars, set off from Río de los Remedios and advanced along Avenida 608 until reaching the Deportivo Oceanía metro station, in the Gustavo A. Madero borough.
However, the march was stopped by members of the Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC) of Mexico City before reaching its destination. The protesters were demonstrating against the detention of Luis "N", alias "El Conejo", leader of the group and alleged member of the criminal organization "Unión 300" or "Los 300".
In the words of X: "Luis 'N' was arrested on March 9 in Veracruz, during a joint operation between the State of Mexico Attorney General's Office, the National Defense Secretariat, and the National Guard." He is accused of having links to organized crime and participating in crimes such as homicide, extortion of transporters, traders, and entrepreneurs, robbery, dispossession, damage to private property, and attacks on communication routes. Additionally, his alleged collaboration with municipal authorities to cover up his criminal activities is being investigated.
In response to the mobilization, the SSC deployed a security operation that included tow trucks, corporation vans, and elements of the Metropolitan Police. This operation affected vehicle circulation in the area, so authorities recommended motorists take alternate routes such as Loreto Favela Avenue, Eduardo Molina, or Avenida 510 to avoid congestion.
