Workers of the Unique Union of Workers of the Powers and Municipalities (SUTEYM) carried out blockades on important roads in Ecatepec, such as at the entrance to Mexico City via the Mexico-Pachuca highway, during the morning of Wednesday, October 30. Amid the strike, workers demanded recognition and respect for their union rights, as well as the payment of their benefits. The blockades affected the general public, including employees and students who use the entrances to Mexico City, such as the Mexico-Pachuca Highway to Line 3 of the Metro and Central Avenue, which houses Line B. Photos and videos shared on social media showed SUTEYM workers occupying streets and avenues, blocking passage with tires and signs stating their demands. Meanwhile, WhatsApp messages circulated with details about the strike carried out by the Operating Agency of the Drinking Water, Sewage and Sanitation System of the Municipality of Ecatepec (Sapase), while Sapase water tanker drivers also demanded their payments and benefits. The Control, Command, Communication, Computing, and Quality Center of the State of Mexico reported on the affected roads, including Lechería-Texcoco, Central, López Mateos, Vía Morelos, and Venta de Carpio. Due to the lack of response over the past four years, the protesters gathered in front of the Municipal Palace to express their grievances.
