The Government of Jalisco announced the security operation and program of activities that will be implemented during the spring vacation period, from March 30 to April 12, in the urban forests of the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area (AMG) and in La Primavera Forest. The strategy is being carried out through the Metropolitan Agency of Urban Forests (AMBU) and the Decentralized Public Body La Primavera Forest, with actions focused on recreation, environmental education, and visitor protection.
The program "Vacations in Nature" will feature guided tours, sensory activities, and free educational experiences in spaces such as Los Colomos Forest and the Metropolitan Park. Guided tours will be held at 10:00 and 12:00, lasting approximately one hour and with no need for prior registration. In Agua Azul Park, the Urban Wildlife Conservation Center will offer tours of the aviary and orchidarium, in addition to maintaining services for wildlife care, species monitoring, and research.
"With these spring activities, we seek for children and people of all ages to discover the natural wealth that exists in our urban forests and to strengthen their bond with the environment," officials stated.
Security Operation in La Primavera Forest
La Primavera Forest will implement the "Holy Week 2026 Operation" due to the expected increase in visitors, estimated at around 36,000 people during the weekends of the period. The operation will involve 375 personnel and 91 units, including patrol cars, ambulances, and specialized vehicles for fighting forest fires. Additionally, five helicopters and three surveillance towers will be deployed for permanent monitoring.
"The Holy Week 2026 Operation will consist of reinforcing surveillance, prevention, and emergency response activities, in coordination with government agencies at all three levels, landowners, and volunteers, with the aim of safeguarding people's integrity and protecting the forest's ecosystems," highlighted Vázquez Sánchez.
Access and Recommendations for Visitors
During the vacation period, activities such as hiking, cycling, and camping will be permitted in the authorized areas of the forest. Authorities indicated that visitors must respect current regulations, avoid lighting fires, not bring flammable materials, not leave waste, and follow the instructions of the staff.
