Launch of 'Yo Jalisco' Public Transport Subsidy Program

In Jalisco, the new public transport support program called "Yo Jalisco, support for transport" has been presented. This program is aimed at vulnerable groups such as students, seniors, single mothers, people with disabilities, and caregivers. The Social Assistance Secretariat (SSAS) will be responsible for providing 100% subsidy to these groups, while the Transport Secretariat will grant 50% to those who meet the requirements.

Priscila Franco, head of the SSAS, and Diego Monraz, secretary of Transport, were in charge of presenting this new program. Franco mentioned that "Yo Jalisco, support for transport" will continue implementing the subsidy for mass public transport for vulnerable groups. The program will allow users to access discounts on different public transport lines in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area (AMG).

Among the modalities of the program, students, women, seniors, caregivers of people with disabilities, and relatives of missing persons will be able to access a 100% subsidy. On the other hand, children aged 6 to 12 years, teachers, secondary school students, seniors, and people with disabilities who do not qualify for the 100% subsidy will be able to access a 50% discount on their fares.

It is expected that by 2025, the number of attention modules will increase from 17 to 31, located in all municipalities in Jalisco that are part of the public transport network. The call for the public transport subsidy will be carried out in different stages according to the beneficiary groups, starting with students on March 10 and ending with families of missing persons.

The registration process to access the "Yo Jalisco, support for public transport" program will be through a digital platform. It will be necessary to schedule an appointment at one of the available modules, bring the required documentation, and receive the new transport card once the requirements are met. It is estimated that more than 50,000 people will be served in the first call.

One of the anticipated innovations in the program is the digitalization of the annual renewal process or every 6 months for students. This measure aims to facilitate and expedite access to the public transport support program in Jalisco.
