Runover in Guadalajara Leaves Injured During Prayer

Sixteen people participating in a prayer vigil against abortion were hit by a luxury truck driven by an individual who had just stolen the vehicle. As a result of the incident, two women remained under observation and were transferred from the Red Cross to the private hospital San Francisco de Asís on Sunday, October 27.

The 14-year-old teenager Bárbara Rojas suffered a traumatic brain injury, while her 18-year-old sister Tania Rojas sustained a hip fracture. The Guadalajara city council covered the medical attention expenses, and the hospitalization fees will be the responsibility of the municipal government. The Secretary General of the municipality, Manuel Romo, stated that they will provide legal, medical, and economic support to the victims.

Juan Carlos 'E', the alleged responsible for the incidents, is in custody of the public ministry, and on Tuesday, October 29, he could be transferred to the Puente Grande prison complex, depending on the determination of the Prosecutor's Office. He was rescued by the police from a crowd that was assaulting him for the incident and saved a 4-year-old boy who was in the stolen vehicle.

The governor of Jalisco, Enrique Alfaro, has not offered further comments on the accident that left 16 injured, most of whom have already been discharged. The mayor of Guadalajara, Verónica Delgadillo, reported that she spent the night visiting the victims and providing support for their needs. State authorities assured that the Government of Guadalajara expressed its solidarity with the injured and committed to providing them with all necessary support.
