Guadalajara Transport Crackdown: 795 Fines Issued, 20 Vehicles Seized

Jalisco's Transport Secretariat conducted nighttime inspections in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area, checking over 10,000 vehicles. Nearly 800 fines were issued and 20 cars were seized for violations. Authorities stated these measures aim to enhance public transport safety, especially for women at night.


Guadalajara Transport Crackdown: 795 Fines Issued, 20 Vehicles Seized

The Jalisco Transport Secretariat (Setran) announced that 10,323 vehicles have been inspected during nighttime operations in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area (AMG). As a result, 795 fines were issued and 20 units were removed for violating current regulations. According to state authorities, the operations have been carried out at various points in the AMG, mainly in areas with high nighttime traffic, with the aim of reinforcing safety conditions in public transport services.

Coverage of taxis and ride-sharing vehicles. As part of the report, it was shared that of the total inspected units, 3,812 correspond to taxis and 6,511 to vehicles from Transportation Network Companies. Inspections were carried out randomly to verify compliance with the State of Jalisco's Law on Mobility, Road Safety, and Transport. It was highlighted that during the operations, supervision filters and document reviews were implemented, as well as physical condition checks of the units.

Prevention actions and gender focus. In addition to inspections, awareness-raising actions were directed at drivers and users, focusing on respect, violence prevention, and the promotion of safe mobility. The agency reported that the operations prioritize the safety of women users and drivers during nighttime hours.

Detected irregularities and follow-up. Among the most common violations detected are the lack of plates, providing services without a valid concession, operating a service other than the authorized one, improper tinting, and conditions that compromise the safety of the units. Setran confirmed that it will maintain coordination with the Legislative Branch to strengthen preventive work in road safety and gender violence response.
