Civil Protection of Guadalupe will carry out a surveillance operation in the eight municipal and private cemeteries of the city due to the celebration of Mother's Day, expecting the attendance of more than 30,000 people from May 9 to 11. Fernando Escobedo, director of Civil Protection, has been coordinating meetings since Tuesday with various entities such as the Cemetery Directorate, the Municipal Health Secretariat, Public Security, and the Guadalupe Firefighters Board, as well as with the owners of the private cemeteries.
The main objective of this operation is to guarantee the safety of visitors and prevent any type of risks for the families coming to remember their loved ones on this special date. Previously, an inspection was carried out by Civil Protection personnel in the eight cemeteries, both municipal and private, reviewing accesses, structures, and possible danger zones.
Among the planned security measures are the presence of police officers at the entries and pathways of the cemeteries, traffic regulation on nearby streets by transit agents to ensure safe mobility, in addition to the availability of Civil Protection to attend to any medical emergency or risk situation. Recommendations have been issued to the public such as avoiding climbing on tombs or gravestones, staying hydrated, protecting oneself from the sun, planning visits during less busy hours, and paying special attention to children and elderly individuals.
On the other hand, the Public Security Secretariat of Guadalupe will implement a security operation around the BBVA Stadium during the quarterfinal match of Liga MX between Rayados and Toluca. A total of 150 personnel, including 100 police officers and 50 traffic agents, will guard the exterior of the venue, as well as the nearby avenues and streets from 4:00 PM on the day of the match.
Police presence will be concentrated on Avenida Pablo Livas, various entrances to the stadium, and other nearby avenues such as Nuevo León, Exposición, and Las Torres, as well as towards the "Bailarín" Bridge. K-9 units will be deployed to patrol the exterior perimeter, and traffic agents will monitor main arteries like Benito Juárez, Las Américas, Las Torres, Pablo Livas, Eloy Cavazos, and Tolteca. After the match concludes at 9:00 PM, partial closures will be implemented on some avenues in the area.
