The Governor of the People, Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo, and the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, signed a historic agreement for more than 6.4 billion pesos to modernize the irrigation systems of Guanajuato's agricultural sector. The project is projected to start this year and be completed in 2028, with the participation of CONAGUA, municipal presidents, and the state authority in identifying the necessary works, especially in the areas of drinking water and flood prevention, according to the Director of CONAGUA.
President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo thanked the producers of the Irrigation District 011 in Guanajuato for their efforts in modernizing agricultural irrigation and ensuring access to water in various municipalities. It was highlighted that the work on the Mexico-Querétaro-Irapuato passenger train project is scheduled to begin in July.
Previously, the Governor participated in the inauguration of the Combined Cycle Power Plant (CCC) in Salamanca, where the recovery of more than 120 million cubic meters of water was announced. For the construction of the aqueduct from the Solís dam to León, with an estimated investment of approximately 15 billion pesos, both federal and local resources will be used.
The CCC plant, with a capacity to generate 927.10 megawatts, will positively impact CO2 emissions and the efficient use of water, saving more than 7 million cubic meters annually. Present at the signing of this agreement were authorities such as the General Director of CFE, María Esther Calleja Alor, the Federal Secretary of Energy, Luz Elena González Escobar, and the Municipal President of Salamanca, Julio César Ernesto Prieto Gallardo.
The Governor emphasized her commitment to the results for the people of Guanajuato and announced investments in agriculture that will benefit more than 25,000 producers and their families. The signed agreement is part of the National Agreement for the Human Right to Water and Sustainability, resulting from the collaboration between the Government and Guanajuato producers with the Federation.
