Currently, 1,959 exporting companies operate in Guanajuato, opening markets in America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Oceania. Despite this significant growth, the challenge now lies in converting this expansion into the generation of quality jobs, more competitive salaries, and greater inclusion for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises.
The Secretariat of Economy of Guanajuato has implemented initiatives such as the Ecosystems of Prosperity and the Economic Turbine to articulate private investment, workforce training, and the strengthening of the internal market. While several states faced an economic slowdown, Guanajuato ranked among the top five for growth in the country in 2024, registering a 3.7% increase in its economic activity, according to the Quarterly Indicator of State Economic Activity (ITAEE) from INEGI. This significantly exceeds the national average of 1.5%, particularly highlighting the industrial sector's growth at 5.6% and the services sector at 2.7%.
In addition to this internal growth, Guanajuato has reached a new historical record in exports, closing the year with $36.315 billion, representing an 8.78% increase compared to 2023, according to the Coordinator of Foreign Trade Promotion (COFOCE). "We are the first non-border entity to export to more than 135 destinations and the sixth nationwide. Guanajuato is demonstrating its productive strength to the world," the agency emphasized.
The state's exports are led by the industrial sector at 90.1%, followed by agri-foods (6.5%), fashion (2.7%), construction (0.4%), and furniture (0.3%).
