Lunar Eclipse Astronomy Events in Guanajuato

On March 13, various activities will take place at the Guanajuato State Central Library, as part of the astronomy event "Red Moon," organized by the Guanajuato Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the University of Guanajuato and the A. C. Center for Optical Research (CIO).

The event will begin on Tuesday, March 12, with the workshop "Learn to Use Your Telescope" conducted by Dr. Alfredo Campos from CIO, aimed at those over 15 years old interested in astronomical observation. On March 13, children will be able to enjoy various activities such as the talk-workshop "Who Ate the Moon?" and "When the Moon Turns Red," aimed at introducing the fascinating world of space to the youngest.

Additionally, the workshop "Reading the Sky with Stellarium" will be offered, aimed at technology lovers, to learn how to explore the cosmos through this digital tool. The event will culminate with the conference "The Moon, Eclipses, and Some Curiosities About Asteroid 2024 YR4," led by Dr. Oscar Loaiza. All activities will take place at the Wigberto Jiménez Moreno State Central Library.

Furthermore, for those who prefer to enjoy the phenomenon outdoors, "Science in Your Plaza" will be organized at the Expiatorio Plaza, where the lunar eclipse can be observed. During this event, starting at 10:00 PM, attendees will witness the natural spectacle of the Moon turning bronze due to the Earth's shadow, a phenomenon known as "Blood Moon."

Finally, astronomy experts will guide the astronomical observation so that attendees can better understand the total lunar eclipse and enjoy science interactively. All activities are free of charge and promise to be an enriching experience for the whole family.
