
Guanajuato strengthened its ties with Japan, its main trading partner, in an effort to consolidate its leadership in the automotive and agri-food industries. The Secretary of Economy, Claudia Cristina Villaseñor Aguilar, led a working tour aimed at attracting investments and expanding the presence of Guanajuato products in the Asian market.
During its visit to Japan, the Guanajuato delegation held strategic meetings with key companies in the automotive sector, such as SK TEC and ATECS. These companies, recognized for their innovation and advanced technology, showed interest in strengthening their presence in Guanajuato, which would contribute to the growth of electromobility in the region.
Simultaneously, 14 companies from Guanajuato participated in FOODEX Japan 2025, one of the most important agri-food fairs in Asia. Iconic products such as tequila, mezcal, and mole were showcased, highlighting the quality and diversity of the Guanajuato offer. This participation aimed to open new markets and consolidate the presence of the state’s products in Asia.
Additionally, Secretary Villaseñor Aguilar met with representatives of the Japan Management Association (JMA) to explore the possibility of attracting international events to Guanajuato. This collaboration could boost business tourism and create new opportunities for SMEs and local producers, strengthening the regional economy.
