Virtual Classes in Guanajuato Due to Cold Weather

In Guanajuato, the intense cold affecting the northeast of the region has led to the suspension of in-person classes this Wednesday, January 22, in public and private schools at the basic and high school levels. The decision has been made with the aim of protecting the health of students, teachers, and families in the face of adverse weather conditions.

The Education Secretariat of Guanajuato has emphasized that this measure focuses on safeguarding the integrity of the educational community and urges the dissemination of this information among all educational staff and families. In order to maintain learning continuity, virtual teaching will be resorted to through digital platforms during this period.

The municipalities affected by the suspension of in-person classes are Atarjea, Doctor Mora, San José Iturbide, San Luis de la Paz, Santa Catarina, Tierra Blanca, Victoria, and Xichú. The population is urged to follow the recommendations of health and civil protection authorities to cope with the low temperatures safely.

Among the recommendations to face the cold are dressing adequately in several layers of clothing, maintaining good hygiene by frequently washing hands, consulting a doctor at the first signs of a cold, ventilating spaces without risks, and strengthening the immune system with a diet rich in vitamins A and C.

Additionally, the Secretariat has called on the educational community to act flexibly in response to potential particular needs that may arise due to adverse weather conditions.
