In Guanajuato, around 45,000 students are seeking to be reintegrated into the education system through the program Open the Door to the Future, which aims to assist minors who abandoned their studies for various reasons. Between January 2022 and August 2024, a total of 76,064 students stopped attending classes, but thanks to this program, nearly 59,000 students have already managed to reintegrate.
The reasons for dropping out of school are varied and include factors such as economic difficulties, family problems, and the distance to schools, especially in rural areas. The Education Secretariat of Guanajuato has implemented a telephone line and social media to provide information and guidance about school reintegration programs, with the aim of supporting young people in their return to the classroom.
The governor of Guanajuato, Libia García, has emphasized the importance of prioritizing the well-being of children, highlighting the need to reach out to where they are to offer support. In this regard, the state government has launched various strategies, such as granting scholarships, strengthening tutoring programs, and creating community learning centers to promote school reintegration.
Additionally, efforts are being made in close collaboration with families to identify and resolve any issues that may be affecting students' academic performance. The governor has stressed that it is essential to actively intervene to support young people who have dropped out of school, as it is unlikely they will return on their own, emphasizing the importance of providing the necessary support for them to complete their education.
