Virtual Classes Due to Fire at University of Guanajuato

The University of Guanajuato has communicated that thorough evaluations will be carried out to determine the structural damages following the fire that occurred at the Centro Histórico High School of the institution. An action plan will be established for the rehabilitation of the affected areas. To ensure the continuity of the distance education process, all necessary technological tools have been provided to both students and teachers.

In light of the situation, a virtual class mode has been implemented for the rest of the school year, along with remote administrative work. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident. Firefighters from León are on guard at the university to ensure that the area is completely safe before leaving.

The fire, which originated in the auditorium and resulted in its total destruction, has led university authorities to decide to continue education virtually. Although the exact causes have not yet been determined, it is suspected that a short circuit in one of the laboratories may have triggered it.

The institution has communicated that, once all necessary information is gathered, a date will be set for the return to in-person classes. Communication channels have been established to address any concerns or requests from the university community. It is important to highlight the swift intervention of the firefighters from León, who controlled the flames and prevented their spread to other areas of the building.
