
Esmeralda 'N', the girlfriend of Luis Antonio Yépez Cervantes, alias 'El Marrito', son of José Antonio Yépez Ortiz, alias 'El Marro', has been linked to criminal proceedings for several offenses. Along with four other members of a criminal cell from the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel, Esmeralda faces charges for illegal possession of a firearm, possession of exclusive-use cartridges of the Armed Forces, illegal deprivation of liberty, and drug-related offenses. They are pointed out as responsible for the homicide of four members of the Public Security Forces of the State of Guanajuato in December 2024, in the municipality of Uriangato.
According to official information, the five members of this criminal cell belonging to the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel were implicated in various crimes, including the homicide of security officials in Uriangato. The investigation following the arrest of these individuals revealed that Leonel 'N' alias 'El Gordo de Zempoala' was the leader of the criminal cell and the mastermind behind the multiple homicides.
On February 4, authorities detained Esmeralda 'N' and four other individuals in the community of Las Jícamas, municipality of Valle de Santiago. These individuals were caught in a vehicle where firearms, cartridges, and illegal substances were found. During the arrest, a minor who was being deprived of their liberty by the detainees was rescued.
Esmeralda and Nancy 'N', two of the arrested, attempted to evade authorities by speeding away in their vehicle and later fleeing on foot. In addition to the seized firearms and cartridges, granular substances in plastic bags were found with them. Meanwhile, José 'N', Aarón 'N', and Óscar 'N' were captured moments later with a minor who claimed to have been kidnapped by the group.
It is important to mention that Esmeralda 'N', 20 years old, was identified as the girlfriend of 'El Marrito', who took over the leadership of the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel after the arrest of his father, 'El Marro'. All detainees were made available to the General Prosecutor's Office to face charges at the federal level. In an initial hearing, the accused were linked to the process and preventive detention was imposed in CEFERESO 12 in Puentecillas, Guanajuato.
For his part, Leonel 'N' alias 'El Gordo de Zempoala', leader of the criminal cell to which Esmeralda belonged, was captured six days later in Querétaro. Authorities identified him as responsible for directing the operations of this dangerous criminal organization.
