The criminal leader known as 'El Gordo de Zempoala', belonging to the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel, was captured in Querétaro on Monday, February 10, in a joint operation between authorities from Guanajuato and Querétaro. This detention was carried out without putting the population at risk, according to the Guanajuato Prosecutor's Office. 'El Gordo de Zempoala' is identified as the mastermind behind an attack that resulted in the execution of four Public Security elements in Uriangato.

Subsequently, five people related to the attack were captured, including Esmeralda 'N', 20 years old, the girlfriend of Luis Antonio Yépez Cervantes alias 'El Marrito', son of 'El Marro', the leader of the same cartel. Additionally, 'El Gordo de Zempoala' is connected to a criminal group attacked in Yuriria; however, despite this, a judge ordered his release, a decision that the Guanajuato Prosecutor's Office plans to contest.

This criminal group, led by 'El Gordo de Zempoala', has been responsible for several attacks against the police in municipalities such as Moroleón, Uriangato, and Yuriria. He is accused of crimes such as homicide, extortion, kidnapping, and acts of terrorism.

Furthermore, another member of the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel, identified as Candelaria 'N', was detained in the main bastion of the group in Santa Rosa de Lima, Villagrán. Candelaria 'N' is considered a high-profile criminal target, linked to crimes such as kidnapping, extortion, and racketeering. She is suspected of having connections with an inmate in León and leaking information to help the cartel plan its attacks.
