New Security Measures in Guanajuato Introduced

The Secretariat of Security and Peace in Guanajuato, in collaboration with the Secretariat of National Defense and the National Guard, has established seven permanent control posts as part of the "Fortaleza Guanajuato: Blindar Fronteras" program. The main goal of this initiative is to reduce crime in the region and make Guanajuato a safe and prosperous state, promoting social peace and sustainable economic growth.

These checkpoints focus on reviewing vehicles that have characteristics similar to those used in criminal activities, in order to detect and decrease car theft and violent transportation on federal and state highways. It also aims to prevent arms trafficking and identify armed individuals who may have criminal intentions on the roads.

The permanent checkpoints are distributed across several municipalities, such as Ocampo, San Diego de la Unión, Apaseo el Alto and Apaseo el Grande, Moroleón, Pénjamo, Purísima del Rincón, and Cerro Gordo. At least one of these points has the presence of staff from the National Migration Institute. These operations are part of the Operational Coordination strategy of the New Anti-Crime Intelligence Force (CONFIA), which seeks cooperation between different levels of government to ensure safety on the highways.

The Fortaleza Guanajuato: Blindar Fronteras program is one of the cornerstones of the CONFIA strategy, which highlights the importance of unity between society and governments to strengthen security in the priority areas of Guanajuato state. It emphasizes close collaboration with neighboring states and the use of intelligence for decision-making and non-intrusive inspections, always considering the well-being of citizens and their freedoms.

Joint efforts between the Defense, the National Guard, and the Secretariat of Security and Peace are carried out with a focus on citizen proximity, seeking to build security collectively and promote the perception of authority as an ally in protecting families and fighting crime. The Secretariat of Security and Peace reaffirms its commitment to the residents of Guanajuato to ensure safety in the region and provide a peaceful environment for both visitors and residents of the municipalities, aiming to build a better future for all.
