They are 22-year-old soldier Natalia Pelcastre Simón of the National Guard and 37-year-old Julián Torres Manzanares, a captain of artillery, assigned to the XVI Military Zone in Sarabia, municipality of Villagrán. Their bodies were discovered lifeless in the Laguna de Yuriria, in the southern part of the state.
In both cases, a search warrant was issued after they were reported missing on February 15, 2025. Natalia Pelcastre Simón was last seen in Salamanca, while Julián Torres Manzanares disappeared in Villagrán. Both went missing on their day off, and from then on, the Mexican Army and the National Guard began searching for their comrades.
On March 7, 2025, civilians reported the discovery of two lifeless bodies, a woman and a man, in the Laguna de Yuriria. The bodies were in an advanced state of decomposition, and after confirming their identities, it was determined that they were the two missing federal agents. The Attorney General's Office of Guanajuato initiated the relevant investigations.
On Monday, it was confirmed that the lifeless bodies belonged to Captain Juan Torres Manzanares and Soldier Natalia Pelcastre Simon. As a result, the search warrant for both was deactivated. The victims' families will receive support and assistance, while it is expected that the Attorney General's Office continues investigating to clarify the double homicide and find those responsible.
