Regional music singer Carin Leon has embarked on a new venture as a restaurateur by opening his taco restaurant, "El Coyote del Norte." This establishment aims to showcase the essence of Sonoran cuisine with dishes such as asada tacos, grilled platters, and signature creations. The restaurant is located in Hermosillo, Sonora, at Bulevar Rodríguez 81-A, Plaza 662, Centro. The venue features an elegant decor with wooden walls, large windows, and warm lighting, combined with traditional taco bar elements like stainless steel serving trays. It has two areas: a VIP terrace available for private events and a common dining area with tables. The restaurant is open daily from 13:00 to 01:00. Menu and Prices: While the star of the restaurant is the tacos, the culinary offering is extensive, including various appetizers that can also serve as snacks. This is complemented by a cocktail and beer menu. Wines, including red, white, and rosé, range from 120 to 3,350 pesos, though it's unspecified if the price is per glass or bottle. Appetizers like melted cheese, aguachile, tiraditos, elote cocktail, chicharrón de diezmillo, and prepared potatoes cost between 60 and 490 pesos. Bean tacos are 45 pesos, while a cabrería steak is 490 pesos. Signature tacos made with wagyu beef cost 325 pesos each. The average price for beer is 60 pesos, with craft beer reaching up to 90 pesos. The cocktail menu includes options like margaritas, palomas, and old-fashioneds for under 190 pesos, as well as drinks with mezcal, tequila, rum, whisky, gin, and vodka. The Story Behind the Restaurant: The business, which opened on March 27, took six months to develop. The name "El Coyote del Norte" was chosen because the coyote is an endemic species to the region. Carin Leon did not develop the project alone; he partnered with several individuals, including restaurateur consultant Sebastián Chacón. Their goal was to create a taco bar similar to those in Mexico City but located in Sonora. Leon is deeply involved in the business, contributing ideas on the concept, music, and plans to expand "El Coyote del Norte" to other parts of the world. An Incident: Less than a month after its opening, the restaurant was visited by several people, but it drew attention when two deputies from the Mexican Ecologist Green Party were involved in a dispute inside the establishment. One was identified as Arnoldo Armenta, the party's youth leader, and the other as Fidel Covarrubias, the organization secretary. To date, neither has publicly explained the incident. Fidel Covarrubias only thanked the messages of support.
